Gulu Town is located in Northern Uganda, approximately 6 hours drive from Kampala city, the capital of Uganda. The Benefits of having an experienced Driver guide on a tour in Uganda.

Driving is one thing and knowing the tourist attractions is another. My simple advice to you is that when traveling to Uganda and planning your trip ensure you book a Drive Guide and not just a driver. In many cases we always want to save a penny by booking a car and driver, assuming that the driver knows all places in Uganda, however this is always a wrong perception and most often you will end up spending more than you can imagine as a result of getting lost in the middle of nowhere and getting back to your starting point. Its therefore advisable to book a car and a driver guide who has been to all the national parks in Uganda or at-least most of them and has to route plan in his head. He does not need a map or GPRS to get to Murchison Falls National park, you will arrive there in time whether any hitches. Secondly a driver guide has a wide range of contacts within the National park so in-case there's an emergency breakdown he usually knows whom to call at the earliest opportunity. In-case you need to book last minute accommodation in the national parks, the driver guides have a wide range of contacts with most of the lodges and hotels and he will not only secure you the right room but also at a good price. The experienced driver guide has also got a wide range of knowledge in as far as the activities and timings in the park are concerned for instance. He knows when when the park gates open or close, the cost of entrance fees and activities, timings of the boat cruise, and do' and don't of the park, this is knowledge that you have at your disposal when you hire a driver guide and not just a driver, consider this when opting for car hire in Uganda. A driver guide also has complete knowledge of your destination and those key things to look out for during your trip, he will show you the attracts not previously included in your itinerary however they may be placed en-route, he has a lot of history to share about specific destinations and besides just getting to your destination, the entire experience will be fun. The driver guides are very professional in their handling of tourists and they know the boundaries in as far as acquainting themselves with clients is concerned, For instance they will not share personal problems with a tourist at any moment during the tour as this is against their code of ethics, unlike a driver who is not trained in handling tourists and will end inconveniencing the clients. The driver guides are also regulated by an association of safari guides in Uganda called the Uganda Safari guides Association and therefore adhere to proper code of conduct when dealing with tourists. Communication is also easier when dealing with driver guide as most of them speak good English unlike most drivers hired off the street in Uganda, majority of whom do not speak good English and often resort to sign language. So with this little insight and advice about driving in Uganda, we believe you will make the right choice and not ruin your travel experience in Uganda. So when in need of experienced driver guides and Ca rental in Uganda, feel free to contact us and you will not regret.
